Opening Hours: 8.30am to 5.30pm – 365 days a year Admission: Adults 600 Thai Baht/Children 350 Thai Baht – (adults $20/children $11.7) Description: Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo is three attractions in one: elephant shows, crocodile wrestling and elephant rides. What to see: Set in 25 acres of land this is a mini-zoo with baby elephants, monkeys and snakes. There is also a large tropical garden. Elephant shows are at 1.45pm and 3.30pm and involve dancing, races, football, games and ‘Yutha Hathi’ – which is the re-enactment of a great battle with actors in traditional dress riding on the elephants. Crocodile wrestling shows are at 12.45pm and 2.20pm. Elephant rides cost 500 Thai Baht ($16.7) per person Facilities: Toilets throughout, and sit-down restaurant serving Thai, Halal and Indian food. Getting There: Address: Phet Kasem Road, Tha Kham, Sam Phran, Nakhon Pathom By Bus: 1 hour journey west from Bangkok. Bus 128 from Grand Palace or bus 84 from Krungthonburi BTS station. Both buses will drop you outside the entrance. Tour: Tour: Starts at 6.30am with a pick up from your hotel. You will be returned to your hotel at 6.30pm. The tour visits a floating market, a sugar palm plantation, the Rose Garden and Thai Village Cultural Show as well as the Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo.
