Area Description
Often considered to be the ‘center’ of Modern Bangkok, Siam Square is a lively area packed with major attractions suitable for all the family. Shopping is the major draw for most visitors for many visitors to Siam Square: it has the highest concentration of shopping malls in the City, clustered around the Rama 1 Road. More than this, within these shopping centers you will find a wide range of entertainment from IMAX cinemas, bowling alleys, Ice Rinks, gaming centers to sports facilities. Siam Ocean World, South East Asia’s largest aquarium, is located underneath Siam Paragon Shopping Mall. A must-see for children coming to Bangkok. Another must-see attraction is the Jim Thompson House formerly belonging to a US businessman in the 1940s. The Jim Thompson House is an excellent example of traditional Thai architecture located by the canal right in the center of modern Bangkok. Restaurants of all types, and to suit all price ranges, number in their hundreds. Search out somewhere to suit either within the shopping centers or on the surrounding streets. |
