Area Description
Chidlom is situated between Sukhumvit to the east and Siam Square the west, Silom to the south and Pratunam to the north. Chidlom is an exclusive residential suburb of Bangkok that also has a few notable attractions for visitors to the area. Lumphini Park (also spelt 'Lumpini Park') to the south of the Chidlom area is only one of the many green spaces in this part of Bangkok. This is the ‘garden’ suburb of Central Bangkok. The gardens of the US and British embassies border the landscaped grounds of the many exclusive hotels based in this area. Exclusive restaurants are clustered around the Lang Suan and Ratchadamri Roads. Join Thai high society and the in-the-know international set dining in restaurants such as Gai & Joel, No 43 Italian Bistro or the excellent Liu in the Conrad Hotel. Upmarket Shopping malls are located to the north of Chidlom. Gaysorn shopping mall on the Ploenchit Road is considered by many to offer the best luxury shopping in South East Asia. Horse racing frequently takes place at the exclusive Royal Bangkok Sport Club, located to the west of Chidlom. |
